Integrating the custom sales, order and job cost system with existing industry standard accounting and control systems was a mission critical requirement. This system naturally scaled into a distributed architecture, providing branch offices a VPN connection to corporate systems.

As for database publishing? Implementing a pre-XML database publishing system based on SGML auto generated highly complex formats for medical part catalogs. These projects consisted of fat client front-ends managing data stored in a centralized Sybase data structure which contained indexed text, graphics, movies with customized FrameMaker (MIF) templates used for final presentation format control.

The deliverables of the system produced pre-press versions for hard copy catalogs, navigational CD-Rom content, and populated the companies online product web site, all from a single data source. The system enables users to achieve a record breaking 1 month data capture to catalog production life cycle, publishing tens's of thousands of medical product SKU's and images in various formats, all from a single reusable data source.

We remain proponents of Multi-tier Client/Server design models. Being leading innovators separating business logic from data and presentation layers we delivered web services for companies as large as Cisco Systems Inc., all while constrained by legacy code issues and a development process built for a large engineering team environment.
